USA: For Jordanian Graduate Students - 2011-2012 Fulbright Pre-Doctoral Awards

Overview

These scholarships are offered to Jordanian graduate students for higher study and research abroad for either Masters or Ph.D. degree-seeking Candidates.

These scholarships are intended for two (2) year's full-time study towards a Masters or beginning Ph.D. degree in the United States. For candidates who are pursuing a PhD in the U.S. must secure funding to continue their Doctoral studies after the first 2 Fulbright-funded years have expired.

These competitions are announced in January of each year for the following academic year(s).

Hereunder are the Eligibility and Application Guidelines for this Scholarship Competition. You may also wish to save a copy of these Guidelines.

The Application Guidelines and the Minimum Requirements for the 2011-2012 Fulbright Student Scholarship Competition:

► The FULBRIGHT- AMIDEAST Application form and Cover/Summary Page should be filled-out as completely and in as much accurate detail as possible.

► You should type the information requested in this Application form. If there is not enough room for some of your answers please continue on a blank piece of paper.

► At the time of applying for a Fulbright Scholarship, you must already hold or have been awarded your terminal degree (a Bachelors or a Masters, whichever is applicable), and your university must have already issued your official and certified transcripts.

► You must attach official, translated and certified undergraduate or graduate transcripts (in English or, if the transcripts are in Arabic or in any other language, they must be translated into English and certified as true translations of the original documents).

► All documents should be in the original or certified as true copies.

► Please include your official, translated and certified Secondary School transcript with a minimum of “B” average or a minimum Tawjihi score of 80% and above. Transcripts for IGSCE and “O” and “A” levels, if applicable, should also be submitted.

► The minimum criteria for your undergraduate degree should be a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 or a minimum of "B" average or a “Very Good (VG)”.

► The minimum requirement in your graduate studies’ transcripts should be an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 or better.

► A Statement of Purpose essay, a Biographical essay and Future Plans essay, in English, should be included with the application. For additional space, you may use a separate sheet of paper (not to exceed 2 pages, please) for each of the three (3) essays, mentioned above.

► Include three (3) letters of recommendation (in English) from persons familiar with your academic and/or professional (work) achievements.

► Please include your most current Resumé (or C.V.): This will certainly be required for MBA degree candidates.

► Four (4) Passport-size Photographs should be attached to your application.


IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not have a valid, official TOEFL Score Report (not older than two years), on the new Internet-Based Test (iBT) with a minimum score between 90-91, it is strongly recommended that you visit the AMIDEAST office in Sweifieh (Tel: 581-0930, Extn. Nos. 111 or 123) immediately to register for the next TOEFL Exam. No application will be accepted without a valid official TOEFL score.

If you expect that you will not have a valid, official and current TOEFL Score Report to submit with your application before the end of the application deadline date (29 April 2010), you must visit the AMIDEAST Office and sit for the Institutional TOEFL Program (ITP) test and submit this score with your application. No application will be accepted without the ITP score report, pending receipt of the official TOEFL Score Report.

Although an official TOEFL Score Report is preferable, applicants may submit an official score report on the IELTS with a score of 6.0 or better,

► Attach a valid, official GRE ® Score (not older than five years) to the Application form. Remember the minimum required GRE Score for grant consideration is 1050. If you do not have a current GRE Score Report, please contact or visit the AMIDEAST office (Tel. No. 581-0930, Etcn. Nos. 111 or 123) immediately to register for the next GRE examination. No application will be accepted without the official GRE score report.

► For MBA applicants only, attach a valid, official GMAT ® score (not older than five years) to the Application form. Remember the minimum required GMAT Score for grant consideration is 550. If you do not have a current GMAT Score Report, please visit and register on-line at www.mba.com to sit for the very next GMAT test administration. This website will provide you with details (address and location) where you may be able to sit for the GMAT. We urge you to immediately register NOW for the next GMAT examination. No application will be accepted without the official GMAT score.

►MBA candidates/applicants MUST have a minimum of 4-5 years of professional/work experience after your last university degree.

► Preference will be given to those applicants 35 years of age or below.

► Applicants must be residing in Jordan at the time of application. No application will be accepted from Jordanians residing, working or studying outside of the Jordan. Temporary visits to Jordan to visit family or just to submit the Application form are not valid.

► Your Application Form and all requested supporting documents mentioned above should be submitted to the Fulbright office in Shmeisani (Tel. 568-4760) NO LATER THAN 29 April 2010. Applications received after this date or, incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
