As one of the largest business schools in Europe, Manchester Business School has an impressive research reputation.We have over 200 research active staff - the largest concentration of its kind in the UK. In the 2008 RAE MBS was rated number 1 in the UK in terms of the research power index (grade point score * Volume).

As part of our commitment to the development of the next generation of research leaders, we are offering a number of post-doctoral research fellowships that are due to commence in September 2010. We wish to hear from individuals who are seeking to develop their research within a supportive research environment. Applications are welcome in any area of business and management studies, including:

Finance (Asset Pricing, Financial Econometrics, Corporate Finance, and Options)

In order to apply you will have a recently completed PhD or expected completion by September 2010. You will also have a strong research track record in your chosen area and the ability to work independently. Candidates at the point of submitting their PhD will be considered but will only be appointed once the viva and any revisions have been satisfactorily completed.


Candidates will be supported and developed to apply for external research grants.

Application requirements

Your application should include an outline research proposal (1500 words maximum). Applications without a research proposal will not be considered - please refer to the Additional Details for more information about this.
